Starting a Workflow

In this article, we'll walk you through the different options available to start your workflow and how to use them effectively.

There are two options for how to start your workflow: "Add all new subscribers who join my list" and "Only add subscribers who get a specific tag."

Choose your starter type

There are two options for how to start your workflow:

  • "Add all new subscribers who join my list" will start the workflow as soon as someone subscribes to your list.

  • "Only add subscribers who get a specific tag" will start the workflow when a tag is applied to a subscriber's information.

Option 1: "Add all new subscribers who join my list"

Selecting "Add all new subscribers who join my list" will start a workflow as soon as a subscriber joins your list as a subscriber.

Optional: You have the option to narrow down which subscribers you want added to the workflow. There are options to start a workflow based on different signup sources or information.

  • The "Source" option can be narrowed down even further with options to start the workflow by specific add methods. These methods include API, Import, or Sign Up Forms.

  • "Ad Tracking" is based on the Ad Tracking value assigned to a specific form, and "Country" is based on the subscriber's IP Address.

If you choose to add a condition to your starter, you will now see the condition you selected displayed within the "Starter" action.

Option 2: "Only add subscribers who get a specific tag"

  1. "Only add subscribers who get a specific tag" will start the workflow when a tag is applied to a subscriber's information.

  2. You can specify these tags under the settings for your workflow. This information will be listed in the "Starter" action.

  3. Optional: You can also choose to exclude subscribers with specific tags from starting the Workflow.

  4. Once you’ve finished, your tags will display in the starter within the editor.

Important Note: The workflow will only start for subscribers that are tagged after the workflow is created and activated. If a subscriber is tagged before the workflow was created or activated, they will not receive any messages.
