Automations in Workflows allow you to trigger actions based on how subscribers interact with your messages. You can add or remove tags when subscribers open messages or click links, enabling targeted follow-up sequences.
Note: If you are using AWeber's sales tracking in your list, and have the analytics javascript installed, automations will not start for that URL.

 What Are Workflow Automations?
Automations give you the option to start certain actions based on how a subscriber interacts with your message. For example, if a subscriber clicks on a link in that message, they'll be tagged with a specific tag to receive another workflow.
Message Opened Automations: Automatically apply or remove tags when subscribers open messages in your workflow.
Link Clicked Automations: Automatically apply or remove tags when subscribers click specific links in your workflow messages.

 Types of Workflow Automations
Open Automations
Open automations trigger when a subscriber opens a message in your workflow. You can use these to track engagement and apply or remove tags based on whether someone opens your message. This is useful for identifying your most engaged subscribers and sending them targeted follow-up content or removing inactive tags when subscribers show engagement.

 Click Automations
Click automations trigger when a subscriber clicks a specific link in your workflow message. You can select which links will trigger the automation and choose to apply or remove tags based on their clicks. This allows you to track specific interests, send targeted product promotions, or guide subscribers into different workflow paths based on their behavior.

 Split Paths
Split paths allow you to create branching workflows that send subscribers down different paths based on their actions or characteristics. You can split subscribers based on tags, engagement behavior, or other criteria to deliver more personalized and targeted messaging sequences. This helps you create dynamic workflows that adapt to each subscriber's interests and actions.

 Removing Subscribers From Workflows
Exit automations allow you to remove subscribers from a workflow based on specific triggers such as opening a message or clicking a link. This prevents subscribers from receiving additional messages in the current workflow once they've completed a desired action. You can combine this with tag applications to move subscribers from one workflow to another for more sophisticated automation sequences.

 Common Use Cases
Sequential Workflows: Use message opened rules to tag subscribers who engage with your content, then trigger additional targeted workflows.
Interest Tracking: Apply specific tags when subscribers click different product or topic links to segment them for future messaging.
Re-engagement: Remove "inactive" tags when subscribers open messages to identify engaged users.
Workflow Branching: Use link clicked rules to send subscribers down different paths based on their interests.
