How do I integrate Convert Plus with AWeber?

Convert Plus is a WordPress popup and lead generation plugin that helps you create attractive, conversion-oriented opt-in forms in minutes. By integrating Convert Plus with AWeber, you can capture leads through beautiful popups and forms, then automatically add them to your AWeber email lists for marketing campaigns.

This integration allows you to leverage Convert Plus's powerful features—including 100+ templates, A/B testing, advanced triggers, and analytics—while managing your email subscribers through AWeber.

What You'll Need

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • An active AWeber account

  • At least one email list created in AWeber

  • Convert Plus plugin installed on your WordPress website

  • The Connects AWeber Addon (available within Convert Plus)

Integration Steps

Step 1: Install the Connects AWeber Addon

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Convert Plus

  2. Go to the Addon installer section

  3. Locate the Connects AWeber Addon

  4. Click Install to add it to your Convert Plus installation

  5. Wait for the installation to complete

Once installed, you'll see a confirmation message indicating the addon is ready to use.

Step 2: Access the Connects Page

  1. In the Convert Plus menu, look for the Resources section

  2. Click on Connects

  3. This will open the Connects management page where you'll create your AWeber integration

Step 3: Create a New Campaign

  1. On the Connects page, click the Create New Campaign button

  2. Enter a descriptive campaign name that helps you identify what type of leads will be stored (e.g., "Blog Newsletter Subscribers" or "Product Launch Leads")

  3. From the dropdown menu, select AWeber as your third-party software

Step 4: Authenticate Your AWeber Account

  1. Click Authenticate Account in the Connects interface

  2. You'll be redirected to AWeber's authentication page

  3. Enter your AWeber username/login and password

  4. Click Allow Access to grant Convert Plus permission to access your AWeber account

  5. AWeber will generate an authorization code

Step 5: Complete the Connection

  1. Copy the authorization code provided by AWeber

  2. Return to the Convert Plus Connects interface

  3. Paste the authorization code into the designated field

  4. Click Connect to AWeber

  5. From the dropdown menu that appears, select the AWeber list you want to integrate with this campaign

  6. Click Create Campaign

Your new campaign will now appear on the Connects page, ready to be used with your Convert Plus forms.

Step 6: Assign the Campaign to a Module

To use your AWeber campaign with a Convert Plus form:

  1. Select or create a Convert Plus module (popup, slide-in, inline form, etc.)

  2. Open the module in the editor

  3. Click on the Submissions tab

  4. From the campaign dropdown list, select the AWeber campaign you just created

  5. Save and publish your module

Your form is now live and will automatically send captured leads to your AWeber list.

Advanced Features

Adding Tags to AWeber Subscribers

You can automatically tag subscribers in AWeber when they submit a Convert Plus form:

  1. Open your Convert Plus module in the editor

  2. Add a hidden field to your form

  3. Name the field exactly as: tags

  4. In the Field Value section, enter your desired tags

  5. To add multiple tags, separate them with commas (e.g., "newsletter, blog-reader, spring-2026")

  6. Save and publish your module

When subscribers submit the form, they'll be automatically tagged in your AWeber list with the specified tags.

Troubleshooting Tips

Lists Not Appearing: Make sure you've created at least one list in your AWeber account before attempting the integration.

Subscribers Not Syncing: Verify that you've selected the correct campaign in your Convert Plus module's Submissions settings and that the module is published.

Authorization Code Expired: If your authorization code doesn't work, request a new one by going through the authentication process again.
